Global Financial Crisis - Where Next?

Global coverage of a global crisis

A year ago, few people had heard of the term credit crunch, but the phrase has now incredibly entered dictionaries.

What started as the credit crunch has now become a full-blown global financial crisis. BBC World News understands the significance of this, and as a global channel, we are best-placed to report on it.

We've charted every twist and turn, with balanced in-depth reporting and journalistic integrity. But we're also taking our audiences deeper, behind the story, and asking some of the killer questions facing the global economy in the months ahead.

From next Monday we're doing something very different.

We've cleared our news schedule for two hours, and we're holding a global debate - featuring our leading presenters in key locations around the world. Mishal Husain will be in Singapore, Nik Gowing in Mumbai, Matt Frei in Washington and Jonathan Charles in Moscow. Back in London, Stephen Sackur will open the programme before heading to our HardTalk studio for a special live edition of this hard-hitting interview programme. Each of them will be asking what the impact of the crisis has been in their location - and looking at how this truly global event connects all of us in one way or another.

The week will culminate with a day of broadcasts on Friday 24 October - looking at the impact of this global crisis on real people. Tune in or log on.

signed, Richard
